I come in here and I sit in silence and hear the echoes of who we used to be.

Before Houdini died, he and his wife agreed that if Houdini found it possible to communicate after death, he would communicate through numbers, the message “Rosabelle believe”, a secret code which they agreed to use. She held yearly séances on Halloween for ten years after Houdini’s death, but Houdini’s spirit never appeared. After a last unsuccessful séance on the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel, she put out the candle that she had kept burning beside a photograph of Houdini since his death. Saying “ten years is long enough to wait for any man.”
The story recounts the primordial androgyny, mythical creatures with four arms, four legs and two heads. They epitomized completeness and were able to do almost anything. However, their pride in their abilities angered the gods and caused Zeus to cut them. Separated in two, they were destined to drift alone, empty and incomplete,
longing for their former halves.
… there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. And they grew next to each other. And every day the straight tree would look at the crooked tree and he would say, “You’re crooked. You’ve always been crooked and you’ll continue to be crooked. But look at me! Look at me!” said the straight tree. He said, “I’m tall and I’m straight.” And then one day the lumberjacks came into the forest and looked around, and the manager in charge said, “Cut all the straight trees.” And that crooked tree is still there to this day, growing strong and growing strange.
